I purchase properties all over Los Angeles and Orange County. While there are well over 100 cities in these counties combined, I find myself purchasing homes in Altadena and Pasadena quite often. The neighborhoods are charming and the homes have so much character. The local building and safety department isn't the easiest to work with but the homes are always worth it.
I purchased a 1924 tudor style home in Altadena a while ago from a homeowner who had inherited his childhood home. As I see too often, there were family "friends" living in the property, rent free, and to say they weren't taking care of the property is an understatement. The homeowner didn't want to deal with evicting the 'tenants' nor the major remodel it needed to get market ready. The escrow was complicated, as there were title issues with the inheritance and a tax lien, but we got the tenants out and the homeowner the peace of mind he needed.
